These are the 10 most popular movies and series on Netflix from 2019

It's a bit of a form of humble brag, the ‘look-how-well-we're-doing’, but it's also nice to know. Netflix released their top 10 of the most popular movies and series worldwide for the very first time ever last week. Completely with the number of viewers, from October last year to October this year. Occasionally we heard good news from the streaming service (‘Stranger Things breaks all records’), but since their launch in 2012 they hadn't come up with a complete top 10 overview. Also a kind of Netflix bucket list; these have been watched so much, you can't really fall behind... Well, there are still a few on there that I haven't seen. In fact, some that I haven't even heard of. How is that possible? I'm going to Google quickly.
Well, read and watch, I would say. Perhaps an unnecessary side note: these are only Netflix Originals, okay. So it's great that Netflix now has Friends online, but that doesn't count. Otherwise, it would definitely have been number one, we all know that of course.
Top 10 Netflix series
1. Stranger Things (64 million)
2. The Umbrella Academy (45 million) — That surprised me. Has anyone seen this and if so, is it really good?
3. La Casa De Papel (44 million)
4. YOU (40 million)
5. Sex Education (40 million) — So sort of a shared place then
6. Our Planet (33 million)
7. Unbelievable (32 million) — This one is still quite new, so it has been watched very often in a short time
8. Dead to Me (30 million)
9. When They See Us (25 million)
10. Elite (20 million)
Top 10 Netflix movies
1. Bird Box (80 million) — Seriously, I am really one of the few who hasn't seen it yet
2. Murder Mystery (73 million)
3. Triple Frontier (52 million) — Also haven't seen it yet... Had to Google it. It's a crime movie with Ben Affleck.
4. The Perfect Date (48 million)
5. Tall Girl (41 million) — I didn't expect that either; I thought this one had flopped a bit?
6. The Highwaymen (40 million) — I had to Google this one too. Shame on me. Again a crime movie about two agents (Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson). Anyone seen it?
7. Secret Obsession (40 million)
8. Always Be My Maybe (32 million)
9. Otherhood (29 million)
10. Fyre (20 million)
I still miss something in this list, you know. Where is Riverdale? The Haunting Of Hill House? Workin’ Moms? I’m not sure if I completely agree with the list, but the numbers don't lie either. I still have a Netflix session or two to do to watch everything on this list. There are worse things in life to do.
