This is how I get through January

may lilian kiki with crodino new year's drink

If even Johnny de Mol has stopped drinking, you can't fall behind. I simply don't participate in Dry January out of principle (I once had to promise my friends never to take a cargo bike and to ignore Dry January, otherwise they would unfriend me), but cutting back a bit is a good idea for many reasons.

Because ordering Spa red at a party is also on the list of forbidden substances and I'm looking for something a bit more exciting around snack time than a glass of juice (just the word: ‘Just give me a little juice’, brrr), you can picture me with the cheerful bottles of Crodino.

Crodino (if you're in Italy, you probably know it from the sweet-voiced slogan: ‘Crodino, non-alcoholic aperitivo’) is the perfect aperitif if you want to be alcohol-free for a while. It has a bite (because more than 30 natural fruits, herbs, and spices are used for a glass of Crodino), it looks cheerful, and it feels festive. This is in contrast to a boring juice. The small bottles are already very photogenic, and if you pour it into a nice glass with lots of ice and a slice of orange, it looks and feels like you're just enjoying a drink with the rest. In fact, you are, just with the bonus of waking up refreshed.

Nice story for at the snack table; Crodino was developed in Italy. Of course. The base is water from the ancient spring Fonte Lisie, and those we must thank for this delicious aperitif are the Societâ Terme di Crodo. Now you know that too.

If you occasionally crave something different, there is now also Crodino Rosso alongside the classic Crodino. The base is still the unique bittersweet Crodino flavor, but with the addition of blood orange, this version has a summery freshness.

Make it extra festive by adding lots of ice to a nice glass, along with a few slices of orange. Stick one on the rim of the glass and voilà, your festive drink is ready. Just as adventurous and tasty as your gin and tonic, but then you'll wake up feeling a bit better tomorrow.

Crodino has helped me through three pregnancies and now through my alcohol-free January month.

Cheers!
