This is the coolest restaurant in Utrecht

Damn, I'm actually a bit hungover. That wasn't exactly in the plan, but sometimes evenings are so nice that it just, well, happens. I felt the need to down a whole wine arrangement on a weekday Thursday evening, so now the punishment is sitting behind the laptop with tiny little eyes. It also comes with the fact that I have hardly drunk any alcohol in the past few months, 12-week-fitgirl regime so on average I'm already slurring on the bar after three wines. Anyway, it's nice and cheap again.
It was an away game in my beautiful Dom city. The last time we were in the news it wasn't for very positive reasons, so it was my task to wash away the bad taste. What better way than with good wine? Every now and then I manage to lure my Amsterdam buddies (+ Roel from Den Bosch) over this way, but it has to be spectacular of course. Fine. Challenge accepted. So last night we were at the restaurant with the most delightful view of the city: WT Urban Kitchen.

Dining out is just the best when it really is an ‘experience’ and that is definitely the case here. You eat in a water tower from 1909. You arrive, take the little lift up, step out on the 9th floor where you arrive in the open kitchen. Then you take the stairs for the truly spectacular view towards the 10th floor, where you sit down on the terrace with a panoramic view.
Then one little work of art after another is served in front of you. The amuse, the risotto balls, the eggplant, the haddock, I don't even know where to start. By the way, they don't do half-baked work, so you choose the 4-, 5-, or 6-course menu. What can be quite pricey in an average restaurant, but for us was a huge bargain at 44, 49, and 54 euros per person (!), I can say. Then add the wine arrangement (at 6 euros per glass) and just like me, you're guaranteed a great evening and okay, maybe a tiny visit from the man with the hammer the next day. But shit was worth it.
Anyway, do with it what you want, but if you want to impress your friends/family/lover again soon, I would say: because it's always incredibly busy, but understandable: the food here is really delicious, affordable, and the interior is love at first sight. I found the upstairs (Ubud) the nicest, but downstairs (Seminyak) is also very nice. And also visit their other spot in Valencia: Voltereta Manhattan. that bite. A tip from my side: do it on time though, because they are certainly fully booked during the summer months. Oh, and don't expect to be outside again around half past eight, this is really a night out. Including quickly filming the sunset, but then quickly putting your phone away. Have fun, bye bye!
