This new restaurant in Amsterdam you want to try
Beforehand, this sounded quite intense: a long weekend to Beekse Bergen with three mothers and five kids... Luckily, I knew from experience that there is more than enough to do to keep the little ones entertained, but of course, you mainly hope that everyone will play together nicely without too much arguing. When we arrived at the safari resort, the atmosphere couldn't have been better: all the kids grabbed their binoculars to spot the giraffes, ostriches, and zebras that were walking right in front of our cottage. And we hadn't even been to the park itself yet. The next day, we took a refreshing walk through the animal park, where Otis kept asking non-stop if Djambo was already there (the park's mascot: an elephant in a safari suit that Otis has been a fan of since last time, especially his songs). To really tire them out, swimming, bowling, and the kids' disco with Djambo were still on the agenda for the afternoon. You can imagine: all the kids went straight to sleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow. And not just the kids, I can tell you... But what a party it was! We can't wait to plan our next trip in this configuration.
As if we hadn't had enough fun, Otis and I went straight to the launch of Amayzine KiDS on Sunday, because we couldn't miss that. Finally, a cool site with great tips for kids between 6 and 14 years old. The kick-off was one big party with crafting, hot chocolate, and we even sailed in little boats through the canals to catch plastic (really a must-do). Otis was the youngest, but he played along effortlessly with the oldest kids. Now during my pregnancy, I am super sensitive to smells. There are scents that I used to love and can no longer stand (sorry Aesop hand soap...), but I also discover new scents. So you live in Amsterdam and still never end up at a nice restaurant to spontaneously grab a bite. Most of the time, I end up in one of the well-known spots, which is secretly a shame when you take a good look at the total offerings of the city. That's why I was so happy when a new place opened a few weeks ago right in my street: Frida. The interior already looks fantastic, but the Mexican menu is truly a feast. My sister was an instant fan. From now on, this will be our new spot to spontaneously grab a bite, and it's also within walking distance.
