Chanel is grateful for the life of her primordial mother Gabrielle Chanel. Her actions so powerful, her life so inspiring that it is a source that is inexhaustible. Last year, the house honored three places that marked a turning point in Gabrielle Chanel's life. Deauville, the fashionable seaside resort where she opened her first store (the store itself is no longer there, but there is an ode to the spot where the store once was, and once again I hereby make a call to the mayor of Deauville to cast Gabrielle Chanel in bronze and place her on the Place de Morny), Biarritz where she settled with her beloved Arthur ‘Boy’ Capel and where her empire began to flourish, and lastly Venice where she mourned the loss of her great love.
