Colleagues have been calling me crazy for years. ‘Look, don't you know how much travel time a car saves you?’ I could never really imagine that as a train girl. Until Annabelle and I drove together in the Renault towards the office. Result? In about 35 minutes at the office instead of, uh, that hour and a quarter with public transport. I increasingly realize that a car gives you freedom. You decide when to leave. You never have to ‘sprint’ to your car because it leaves at a certain time with or without you in it. A car is freedom. A car is your own little cocoon to sing loudly without shame. A car is having conversations about sex with your best friend without other people listening in. A car is getting in on Sunday and driving to your family with a bunch of flowers. Grocery shopping. Exercising. Suddenly I realize it: I need a car like crazy. And, that yellow Renault TWINGO or new ZOE (which will be in the showroom from the end of October by the way) seems like something for me.
