Wanna be on top? Tyra Banks opens a ‘model amusement park’

Whether it's smart to promote such a dream world with models since the whole Fyre affair (tell me you've seen the Netflix docu) is a second question, but Tyra Banks is going all in anyway. The former Victoria’s Secret model and host of America’s Next Top Model has announced the opening of Modelland, a gigantic theme park in Santa Monica. And yes, I was a little skeptical. Because, uh, a model amusement park? What are we supposed to imagine there? Can you only ride the roller coaster if your BMI is okay? And yes, I was a little skeptical. Will the cotton candy stand be replaced by the carrot stand? No, okay, Kiek, stop with those prejudices. Tyra explains: “I created America’s Next Top Model to broaden the definition of beauty, based on my own experiences. I have heard 'no' so many times because I was too curvy or because I was black. My empathy for women has only increased because of this. With Modelland, I am taking ten steps forward at once by giving people the opportunity to be part of this world,” says the model. What can you do as a visitor in Modelland? “It will be a place where the modeling world is united with fantasy, entertainment, technology, retail, food, drink… In short, the place you want to be,” says Tyra. The amusement park is supposed to ‘bring modeling work to the masses,’ writes.
