Look, look, look: the official trailer of Peaky Blinders season 5

They’re the Peaky fookin’ Blinders. And they are back. Well, back, not quite yet. But the first images have finally been released, as the official trailer for season 5 was dropped yesterday. So, watch, watch, watch. Because really: it looks very cool. A case of Ican’twaitanylonger. The trailer could have been a bit longer for my taste, but well, that whole fifth season could have come yesterday rather than today for me as well. We still have to wait a bit for the very first real episode until August 3. That’s manageable. Especially now that Tommy Shelby treats us to the delightful line in the trailer: ‘There is God, and there are the Peaky Blinders.’
And we see Tommy Shelby entering politics in the fifth season. A real Member of Parliament then. There he comes into contact with Oswald Mosley, not a very pleasant guy; he is a fascist politician. Season 5 of Peaky Blinders will take place in the 1930s, so that rising fascism will play a big role, as well as the financial crisis that the world faced at that time. In addition, a new gang will cross the path of the Peaky Blinders: the Billy Boys. Billy Boys, really? Just by the name alone, they are no match for our Peaky Blinders. Yet at their peak, they had about eight hundred members, they come from Scotland and were led by a fascist politician (not Oswald Mosley). There, you’ve also had your little history lesson.
Going out with a bang today. Because yes, we had to wait a long time for season 5. That’s not fun, but if I tell you that we will get two more seasons after this, it softens the pain a bit. Yes, the creators have said they want to make a total of seven seasons to tell the story completely. So two more seasons. Very. Much. Looking. Forward. Apparently, they want to end the seventh, and thus final, season between the two world wars. I’m so curious how they will depict the course of World War I. Pff, what I’m saying: I’m looking forward to every second of the episodes that are yet to come. It remains one of the best series there is, right?
