What you can ask your boss during a heatwave

The heat plan is active, boys and girls, thirty degrees has been reached and therefore we are on alert. Stay out of the sun, apply sunscreen, drink water, and keep calm is the advice. Now we continue calmly under the blowing and humming of the air conditioning, but if you are not familiar with that luxury, your supervisor owes you something. Work should not have a negative impact on your health, as stated in article 6.1 of the Working Conditions Decree, just so you know. Read along to see what you can expect.

First of all: ice water

Bosses and managers pay attention, even if the air conditioning is roaring at nineteen degrees, stop by a supermarket to raid the ice shelf. You will win souls with that. Ice connects, ice fraternizes, and ice is good for the work ethic.

Does it have to be now?

Your employer is supposed to protect you from extreme heat. Therefore, the first question is whether it is really necessary for you to do this work in the blazing sun right now. If not, you can simply ask for a postponement or a reduction in working hours.

Accessories

During work, the supervisor must ensure enough cooling drinks and items to protect you from the sun, such as various headgear and liters of sunscreen. I also advocate for moisturizing cream for dryness caused by air conditioning.

On time

During a heatwave, you can expect the boss to set a tropical schedule, just like in schools. It is also an option for the boss to alternate the warm spots with the cooler spots. This may sound a bit dirtier than we mean, but it is just nice if the workday can start a bit earlier and also end a bit earlier, then we can swing by the beach to cool off.

What is too warm?

To give you an indication of what is approximately acceptable: light office work is okay up to 28 degrees. Intensive physical work can go up to 25 degrees, but there must be a cooling breeze (read: a hot hairdryer), otherwise, you might as well stick to 23 degrees. This is not officially established, but these are guidelines from the Working Conditions Portal.

It's not that the heat is only troublesome, May sees the sunny side of it and people happen to have more desire to get busy.
