Why you want to go to Sweetlake City this weekend

To answer your first question right away: of all places, it is indeed Zoetermeer. Normally, I start mumbling about a place ‘somewhere nearby The Hague’ when it comes to my hometown, but that's actually quite unfair. Sweetlake City a.k.a. Zoetka a.k.a. Bitterminder, in other words, Zoetermeer is really nice. And no, with almost 125,000 inhabitants, I don't live in a village. Time for a list of nice addresses then. Let me know when you're there? I think that would be the most fun.

Sweet Lake Italy

Not only for the pasta, pizza & grill do you want to eat at Sweet Lake Italy, it is especially a super nice location in the summer. The terrace has been transformed into a city beach including a beach bar where you can sip the best gin tonics during the golden hour.

De Bakkerswinkel

In the old village, also known as Dorpsstraat, not only are the most beautiful and oldest buildings of Zoetermeer located, but there are also definitely a few of my favorite cakes living there. For example, the best homemade chocolate cake. Oh, and scones served warm from the oven. Yum.

Bo & Ro

The tastiest appetizers and most creative combinations on a stylish plate is what you can expect at Bo & Ro. By the water, with the most beautiful atmospheric lighting around you.

Pavarotti

For a small price, you can enjoy a well-filled salad, pizza, or pasta at Pavarotti. Tip: definitely save some room for the Nutella pizza as dessert.

Hudson

A trip across the USA. American food classics in an easy-going atmosphere + bar + top terrace. Order the nachos double, because they are quite delicious to enjoy with a good glass of wine.

Barista Cafe

Where you not only sip the best coffees in town, but where you also want to come back every week for the Oreo brownie.

Chocolate Company

For a delicious ‘bakkie’ (a bit Haags, right) on the go, but especially for the chocolate fondue. Do make a reservation, because thanks to the tastiest cookies, marshmallows, and fresh fruit, the fondue is quite popular.

From Zoetermeer, you can be in Scheveningen in no time. Although Zoetermeer is not on the coast, we do have Noord AA. That is a super nice beach and especially the perfect spot for a picnic, barbecue, or to join in the restaurant in the evening.

Just for the steepest indoor slope of no less than 300 meters. Oh, and for the fondue restaurant. I say: a day of winter sports in Zoetermeer, woohoo.
