24 hours in The Hague

Let me confess right away: sometimes I pretend I live in The Hague. Not to be interesting, but because the reaction to my answer ‘in Zoetermeer’ is often ‘WHERE!?’ to which my response is: ‘You know, that little town stuck to The Hague.’ And to be honest, I may live in Zoetermeer, but as a city girl, I prefer to hang out in The Hague. Today I'm going to tell you about the spots and hotspots that are exactly that. Eating, sleeping, and sunbathing (okay, and shopping too, but more on that soon), because those are ultimately the most important things in life, right? Fun! See you there.

Jamey Bennett

The place where you flop down on a vintage Chesterfield with a GT in your hand. But where you definitely also drink an espresso and join on Sunday for one of the tastiest breakfasts in the city. On weekends, the kitchen happily transforms into a bar in the evenings. So after dessert, you really won't be going home just yet.

Address: Plaats 11

Scallywags

Not necessarily a hotspot, but incredibly popular with the English. And with my girlfriends. Because if you want to eat the best pastries and scones and slurp the tastiest coffee and tea, this is the place. It's the smell of fresh bakes that manages to lure me into the Bijenkorf like few other things.

Address: Wagenstraat 117

South of Houston

As if you've landed in one of the coolest city gardens in New York. And during the summer months, a barbecue is organized in the garden every weekend. From the tastiest St. Louis Style Ribs to lobsters and oysters, and don't forget the milkshakes. Cheers!

Address: Lange Houtstraat 3

Mama Kelly

Just because the former boiler house of the Caballero Factory is so incredibly Instagrammable. Lunching, having drinks, or hanging out on the terrace by the water until late on the most beautiful days of the year. The only thing you need to do is choose between chicken and lobster. Oh, and don't forget to try the cheesecake. It's seriously my favorite.

Address: Saturnusstraat 100

Hofhouse

In the heart of the court city, next to the Central Station, you will find this hotspot. You can have breakfast and dinner here, and for the tastiest cocktails, you are at the right place. Around the bar, you will find pop-up food units that make it worth a surprising visit every time. And, also not unimportant: this place is quite photogenic.

Address: Rijnstraat 10

Little V

On the square of Chinatown, you will find Little V. A terrace where you can drink the tastiest cocktails and homemade ice tea but where you can especially enjoy super delicious Vietnamese food. If the temperatures cooperate, it feels just like you're on vacation. Making a reservation is a good idea, because it's always busy.

Address: Rabbijn Maarsenplein 21

Whoosah

When you say The Hague, you say beach. Kijkduin and Scheveningen are the nicest spots, with Scheveningen being the favorite. The boulevard is amazing (talking about the perfect vacation feeling). Plenty of nice spots and comfy lounge benches where you can entertain yourself all day with the best view of the sea. My favorite part is the Zwarte Pad. There are a number of cool beach tents in a row, including Whoosah. But don't forget to make a pit stop at Indigo and Barbarossa.

The Kurhaus

And if you want to stay longer than 24 hours in The Hague, which would be completely logical, you should really just stay at the Grand Hotel Kurhaus. Just for the view from your balcony.
