Why you want to see Once Upon A Time In Hollywood in the cinema

My weekend went a bit differently than expected: I had the not-so-quiet hope that the price of the Lowlands tickets would drop significantly and that I could still make my appearance on Saturday morning. The tickets didn't go below 270 euros: something about a cold fair and no Lowlands. Lesson learned for next year, and a planless weekend. Netflix and the Pathé cinema were therefore my buddies this weekend. Fittest Monday ever, plus point. And in that Pathé cinema, I caught Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and I want to talk to you about it because people, I give it a 9.5. And that half point deduction is my own fault, I bought tickets too late and was therefore chilling on the very first row. In other words: the worst seats in the cinema. Check here the 3 reasons why you also want to see it. À la minute.
- Brad and Leo in one movie could of course not go wrong. But honestly: they are both really in top form. I laughed a lot at Brad, I didn't know he could be so funny. That might also be thanks to Quentin Tarantino, because I found him brilliant in Inglourious Basterds as well. And well, Leo, I don't think I've ever seen a bad movie of his. The chemistry between the two of them is also very nice to see. Leo's role as a has-been actor suits him particularly well.
- Tarantino asked the audience at the first screenings to keep the ending a secret, and after seeing it myself, I can agree with this request. Holy shit, guys, what an ending. Quentin Tarantino's films are known for being quite violent, so you can certainly expect that, but in a way that it's almost slapstick funny. So yes, I'm not going to predict the ending either, but believe me: going out with a bang. And with Brad and Leo, you don't want to argue, that's clear to me too.
- The overall atmosphere of the film. Old LA, the film sets, the whole 60s vibe (including ‘those fucking hippies‘). The outfits, the cars. The film is an ode to Once Upon A Time In The West (Leo is a western actor) and a ode to Hollywood, which is very enjoyable to watch. Impressive if a film lasts over two and a half hours and I don't get bored for a moment.
It's definitely Oscar material, I just want a shared Oscar for Leo and Brad in the acting category. Really, how have they never made a movie together before? Now it's just waiting for the memes of Leo and Brad; name a more iconic duo – I’ll wait. Oh yes, my girl crush Margot Robbie is of course in it too. As I said: few downsides to this film, as long as you have good cinema seats. Then just a ten.
