With this, you will be hair-free and smooth all summer long.

Philips Lumea event on the canal With Kiki and Lil and other readers snacks drinks magazine

In the decade of inclusivity, I don't want to blame anyone for any choice they make. Showing off armpit hair should especially be done if you think it lifts you up. For whatever reason. I don't believe that we, and you all as well, are really fans of the company that says let everything grow and bloom. That's why spring is the cue for me to take my Philips Lumea out of its winter sleep (it was definitely capable and willing, I myself was just a bit less sharp on a hair more or less on the legs in winter) and start the flash fest.

What is that again, the Philips Lumea?

The Philips Lumea is that super handy at-home IPL device (Intense Pulsed Light), with which you can sort of flash your hair follicle to sleep. How it works exactly is explained by Kiki and me here, but what I can tell you now is that you treat the body parts you want hair-free four times every two weeks and that after four treatments you are hair-free. Then it's just a matter of maintenance once every four to six weeks. Ideal, therefore. The whole summer without stubble, no beard growing because you let it wax afterwards; just completely without stubble and hair.

Fifteen happy readers

On Saturday, we welcomed readers in a super cool hub called SPOT Amsterdam, at Herengracht 15. There were cakes from Waldo, scones with the tastiest homemade jam (a bit sour, perfect with the scones and clotted cream), there was fresh fruit, two types of milk for the cappuccino, and above all, there was the very latest Lumea for everyone. Because it might have a bit of a ‘we from the toilet duck advise toilet duck’ vibe when I praise the Lumea  (but I just think it's a fantastic invention, just like the stick vacuum cleaner by the way, but that's beside the point), we invited winners from two years ago to share their experiences. And they also stumbled over the superlatives.

We have the nicest

What struck me again, just like during all our reader events, is how nice you all are. Smart, stylish, with a good heart, a healthy shopping desire (after our event, you pushed through to take advantage of National Glamour Day) and a good dose of self-mockery. I'm already looking forward to June 22, the day when I will hear all the experiences and admire all the smooth legs.
