Wow: Carolien met Kate Winslet

Last weekend, Jon and I felt like gods in France: for the Prix de Diane Longines, we traveled to the picturesque Chantilly. On the first evening, we were treated to the launch of Longines’ new record watch collection with two world-class stars: Kate Winslet and Simon Baker. Now, I'm not easily starstruck, but this time I was sweating bullets and my lip started to tremble slightly when we got to take a photo with them. The next day, Jon and I were amazed at the horse racetrack: everywhere French families beautifully dressed (including headgear: we should demand that more often as a dress code) were picnicking and cheering on the horses during the races. Unfortunately, we bet wrong on every race, so we have to come back next year for a rematch. But we don't mind at all.

In just a few years, the sneaker has become a staple at every respected fashion brand high on the sales list. You're no longer in the club if you don't have that one, oh so coveted, chunky designer sneaker in your closet (to the great annoyance of many men who just don't understand the hype). Of course, the real sneaker brands can't fall behind, and I find it almost a sport to search for those cool kicks that not everyone in Amsterdam is wearing. I found this nice pair at Skechers, and on day one, I already received four compliments. But keep this info within the Amayzine walls, because before you know it, the whole city will be wearing them...

Now there are more people who get to make beautiful trips for work, but this trip from last week was something else: in 24 hours, I got to take a beautiful road trip from Geneva to Milan and see the coolest highlights along the way. We ended with a culinary highlight: restaurant Tokuyoshi, where they combine Japanese cuisine with Italian and create flavors I've never tasted before. I don't know how, but I must and will drag Jon to Milan, just to experience this. If you're heading that way soon: this restaurant is truly a must. In Los Angeles, I had seen it before: Van Leeuwen vegan ice cream, which sounds very Dutch. But in the Netherlands, this brand was nowhere to be found. Until last week, when I received a message asking if I wanted to try this ice cream at JuiceBrothers in West. Believe me: this vegan ice is worth a detour. Flavors like peanut butter chocolate chip & cookies and cream with a delicious creamy taste, where you just can't understand how this is made without dairy. Bring on those summer days.
