23 years ago Lady Di passed away

I drove to a friend in Arnhem. I got into my car, turned on the radio and just heard: “...Lady Diana has turned 36 years old.” But that meant she had passed away. I couldn't believe it. I am still fascinated by her sad story. If something shouldn't have happened, this was it. This didn't have to happen. Her death is still associated with the most terrible facts.
1. The seatbelts
Except for Dodi Al-Fayed's bodyguard, none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts, something that fuels the theory that it was a set-up. Lady Diana would always wear her seatbelt (unlike Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip), and now she just didn't. Theories suggest that her seatbelt may have been sabotaged, preventing her from putting it on. The only one who did wear a seatbelt, Trevor Reese-Jones, survived the accident.
2. The ride in the ambulance
Many were also surprised here because the ambulance that transported Diana (Dodi Al-Fayed and the driver were declared dead on the spot) took seventy minutes for a journey of five kilometers. They also reportedly passed two hospitals before arriving at the hospital where she was operated on. This also fueled speculation. The answer was that the ambulance was driving so slowly because she was in such bad shape and they were going to the third hospital because it was the best hospital for her at that moment.
3. The operation
Lady Diana was so severely injured that her heart had shot from the left side of her chest to the right side. Oh boys, I find that so terrible to read.
4. She was operated on at night, but at 4:00 AM she was declared dead by the doctors.
5. That same day, Prince Charles came to Paris with her sisters and they left with Diana's body an hour and a half later.
6. On September 6, 3 million mourning people came to Westminster Abbey to commemorate Diana. The day before, Mother Teresa passed away, but she was completely overshadowed by the mourning for Lady Diana.
7. The behavior of Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth refused to lower the flag to half-mast as a sign of mourning because Lady Diana was no longer an official member of the royal family. This caused great anger among the people. Eventually, the queen relented and lowered the flag at Buckingham Palace to half-mast on the day of Diana's funeral.
8. How is the only survivor doing now?
Trevor Reese-Jones, Dodi's bodyguard, was the only survivor. He spent a month in the hospital, his face was so damaged that they had to reconstruct it using family photos. It took 150 pieces of titanium to hold all the bones together. Dodi's father paid for everything for him. However, they apparently fell out later, which prompted Trevor to write a book with his side of the story. He has fully recovered, found love, and lives in Wales.
9. A square in Paris
Since last year, there is a small square in Paris named after Lady Diana: Place Diana.
We will never forget her.
