5x Why The Voice SR is the best Voice ever

The voice senior jury

When I saw the press photo, I thought: yes, no way. I'll skip that one. What a potpourri of a jury that was. Angela Groothuizen (I get it, love for everything Angela), Ilse DeLange (same), but topping it off with Frans Bauer and Gerard Joling. I found it peculiar. To put it mildly. But rituals are rituals and traditions are traditions, so I pressed 4 on Friday evening at 8:00 PM anyway. Fire on, snacks on the table, glass filled, kids around me. And I actually found it fun. I am addicted and infatuated.

1. Life
Look, the kids are cute, really. But this has layers. The candidates have a life behind them. With tears of joy, pain, and fear. This audition is either their last chance (like the man who sang Copacabana and was diagnosed with cancer some time ago), others just participated for fun or as an example for others (Imca Marina, how nice!). What I found very beautiful about this season is that they pre-interview people at home or at a location, so not haphazardly in the studio, but they really make time for it, which allows you as a viewer to be even more involved in their lives.

2. The jury
I had my doubts about that, but they are so fun and diverse. That beautiful Angela, the prettiest and best dressed Ilse DeLange and oh, when Gerard Joling turns around during Copacabana and waves his hands, I find him so likable again. It is a diverse jury, all skilled in their own way and above all kind to each other. Hashtag sokanhetook, I would say.

3. Lieke
Love for Lieke who empathizes with all the candidates and of course always looks fantastic, too.

4. A little more about Imca Marina
Who stands there in a crocheted vest with an inflammation on her vocal cords and just goes for it, for whom Frans Bauer turns around and is already chuckling at the reveal that is about to follow. He knows what the others do not yet know: that just Imca Marina is standing there singing. Angela praises her because she ‘just does it’ and Imca also says: ‘Does it matter, I just do it. Also to show other older people that you just have to do it.’ And then: ’Uh, someone has turned around. Does that mean that I... am through?‘ Oh Imca, I would like to hug you. If that were allowed.

5. Corona-proof without you noticing it
They really did well. The supporters of the auditionee are neatly in a separate ‘cage’, there is less audience, but I didn't feel that at all. I laughed and cried and am looking forward to tonight.
