Alicia Keys is coming to your house party on King's Day

The most fun day of the year is being ruined by that stupid coronavirus. For many people, King's Day is at least in the top three favorite days of the year. This year, of course, it will go a bit differently. I will definitely wear orange, just for the King's Day feeling, but further I will make it a Home Day. My visitor is Netflix and I plan to be mostly horizontal. Lying on the couch. Series on and go. But if you feel like something that comes closest to a party: I got you covered. Because if there's one thing that has become clear in these corona times, it's that we can all be very creative when we need to be. And so there are quite a few fun initiatives for tomorrow. What I find the most annoying is that this year will be the warmest King's Day ever, just when the whole country is in an intelligent lockdown. I don't know what kind of karma that is, but it's not great. Bet that if it can go loose again next year, we'll be sitting with rain showers? Pfff.
1. Sing the Wilhelmus
Fun fun fun, with the whole country singing the Wilhelmus en masse at 10:00 in the morning. Seems fine to me. From your window, garden, balcony or whatever: sing along with all your heart. I will definitely do it, although it will feel a bit awkward to sing loudly alone. It has a cozy vibe.
2. Catch a concert
You can do that this King's Day. From Davina Michelle and Snelle for example, who are giving a concert in an empty Rijksmuseum. You might want to set your alarm for this: the concert is at 9:00 in the morning. You can warm up for that Wilhelmus. It's going to be a super busy day, King's Day 2020.
3. Celebrate your King's Day with 538
I have been to the Museumplein on King's Day when 538 provided various performances. Seems like an eternity ago now. But a coronavirus doesn't stop them, you know: that party is just going on. In fact, the line-up is better than ever with Alicia Keys as the main act. What? Yes, she is giving a virtual concert for us tomorrow. How cool. Martin Garrix is also spinning a set, Davina Michelle is also performing here (she has a busy schedule on this day), plus Anne-Marie, Duncan Laurence, and Tiësto are also stopping by. You can follow it all day on 538, SBS6, and YouTube.
3. Still catch a festival
Well, a festival... The closest thing to a festival. Supersized Kingsday is called the ‘largest living room show in the Netherlands’. Very curious how they are going to pull that off. B2S is the organization behind it and if you like hardstyle music (or just have a lot of energy), I believe you will be fine here with DJs like Zany, Panic, and Partyraiser. I always find the names of hardstyle DJs so funny by the way. Loose on DJ Panic.
4. Join the Living Room Bingo Show
I love games so I think this is really fun. A game of bingo from your living room and if you have bingo, you can of course shout it out as usual, but you also have to call the BingoHotLine right away. Check the event here, where you can also buy tickets.
5. Make it a Home Day
Well, we still have to stay inside as much as possible according to the RIVM, so that's why the Dutch Orange Association has organized Home Day this year. There is a whole timetable, from 9:45 to 19:00. From images from the Antilles to Wim-Lex who will peek around the corner. And they will also sing the Wilhelmus at 10:00. Easy to do from home.
