Where are you going first when you can travel again?

A good friend asked me exactly this question and I didn't have to think for a second. I didn't mention a faraway place, no subtropical destination, absolutely nothing from my bucket list and not the trip I missed due to the intelligent lockdown, but I immediately shouted: Greece. And not just any Greece, no my beloved Greece.
As you know, I am a recidivist, which is much less dirty than it sounds, because it just means that I always return to one holiday destination. It’s because of our dear Greek friends, the amazing food, island life, our little hotel, lounging around, knowing exactly which backstreet to get the best herbs, joining Greek families at home, and knowing where to go for the finest local wine. It feels like coming home, with the difference that it’s 25-plus degrees, I don’t have to cook myself, and the day starts with swimming in the sea.
I asked my Amayzers, where are you going when it’s allowed again?
May: Due to corona, I have really started to think about what is necessary and what you can do without. Despite flight shame, we still easily boarded that plane. I want to be more selective about that. That I save my flights for those moments when it really can’t be helped. Because of corona, I have also started to appreciate the little things around me more. And our own country. So if it’s possible and allowed, I’m going with my beloved to Pure C, just in our own country. Delicious food, sleeping, walking along the beach. That’s all I need.
Annick: To Puglia. It’s been on the bucket list for a while and it’s so close that it’s actually totally illogical that I haven’t been there yet. So after corona, no more excuses, but heading towards pizza, pasta, and vino in Puglia.
Lilian: I want want want want to go to Tulum. For the reason….. just read it yourself. And thank you Wieke.
Danielle: To Thailand! Island hopping with my family and relatives from Japan. And then we’ll spend at least four days in Bangkok.
Kiki: I’m starting with a modest trip to Lisbon (my favorite city, just warming up again) to devour a shitload of Pastel de Nata’s. Then ending up in Boracay in the Philippines via Tokyo (bucket list from day 1), the most beautiful island in the world according to Condé Nast Traveller. Sigh. When are we going?
Tessa: With the four of us to South France, having fun with Bodi and Daaf in the pool and on the beach. And if I get to go again, I could also go to Ibiza with my best friend without kids, haha.
Lotte: Anywhere in Italy, haha. As long as there’s wine, pasta, burrata, some sunshine, and a little beach, I’m more than fine.
Wieke: I want – no, I’m going – to Bali, for the food, the people, the sun, the atmosphere, and just basically everything. I’m even looking forward to that terribly long flight.
Annabelle: Then I choose Puglia. Last year was my Puglia initiation and rarely has my holiday been so nice and so relaxed. I stayed for 10 days with my whole family in a dream house. Nothing I’d like more than to go back with my dear family to toast to life, health, and the abundance of pasta that we eat there at least once a day. See you soon, Puglia.
And you, where are you going when hopefully it’s good enough again and we’re allowed to travel? Until then, we’ll dream from home. #stayhome
