Another pervert who got away with it

Dominique Strauss-Kahn

We had time, right, because of the lockdown. So I devoured in one bite the miniseries about Dominique Strauss-Kahn and the poor chambermaid from the Sofitel who saw her whole life shattered by an unfortunate case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“I had a good job, I was happy. I was chosen as employee of the month, I was content.” And then she stepped into the presidential suite, thinking the guest had left, and was violently grabbed and orally raped.

Her colleagues convinced her to file a report, but unfortunately this documentary is yet another proof of how intensely difficult it is as a victim (especially as a poor woman of color from The Bronx) against white, wealthy men.

Where all the evidence was 100 percent clear (assault), the clever, overly white-toothed lawyers of DSK turned the case around. Suddenly, Nafissatou Diallo was suspected of being part of Sarkozy's team that collected incriminating material against DSK because DSK was once a very promising candidate to become the new president of France.

I watched it with disbelief and my mouth agape. That poor woman. And more women spoke out, like Tristane Banon who was also grabbed by him but was all dismissed as ‘consensual’ sex. In other words, they both wanted it.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn was allowed to invoke his right to remain silent, Diallo was interrogated a thousand times to find a slip of the tongue or a wobbly statement. Ridiculous, right? If Strauss-Kahn had said they had sex on the bed, but the semen was found in the hallway, they could have arrested him immediately.

DSK was released on bail, his wife rented an apartment for $35,000 a month and also covered the costs for security of $140,000 a month. When another prostitution network in Lille came to light, of which her husband was an active part, she also pushed him aside. But there is again a woman four who appears by his side. Incredible.

I just wanted to know how it would end for Nafissatou Diallo. In the end, she received 1.5 million. Why do you pay that if you say it was consensual sex? Seems to me a form of admitting guilt, but okay.

Nafi has started a restaurant in The Bronx and provides a place for people who need shelter.

For people like Nafi, Virginia Giuffre, Thysia Huisman, Tristane Banon, and all the other brave survivors who dared to look the monster in the face, knowing they have so much more money and cunning lawyers, I want to bow. You did not choose the easiest path, but the best path. Through you, hopefully, something will change. Slowly, but it will happen.

And Nafi, when that lockdown is finally over, I will come eat with you. And maybe I can come help you for a day.
