These restaurant boxes you want to try at home

Rutte already said it: order from your favorite restaurant and buy local. And when Rutte says I should order food, of course I do that. You shouldn't go against something like that. I took a round on the editorial team to see what the favorite boxes at restaurants are. Then I have one more piece of advice: just order, just order, just order.

Neni in Amsterdam
The restaurant where I would want to eat every day because I am addicted to Lebanese cuisine. I might have even considered driving from my hometown (not Amsterdam) to Stadionplein to pick up a Signature Balagan Box. Maybe.

Restaurant Viviamo in Woerden
The best truffle risotto in town, a burrata that will make you drool, and at Christmas a snack box to accompany your wine. A small bottle of homemade limoncello to sip afterwards, and I would order a canolli or ten if I were you. My order has already been placed, now yours still needs to be.

Wils in Amsterdam
And if you are at Stadionplein, make sure you don't forget the restaurant box from Wils. Our Lotte had it this weekend and kept sending photos and videos, she was so excited. You apparently hardly have to do anything yourself and still eat restaurant-worthy. Light the candles and just enjoy the meal.

Fico in Utrecht
The box from Fico is becoming a concept in Utrecht. A bottle of cava, an instructional video from the chef, a cocktail, a playlist, and of course your four courses. Good value for money and they occasionally change the menu, so you can order again.

Restaurant Goud in Rotterdam
Take Goud Out and Gastrohome, hats off just for the names. The restaurant of Herman den Blijker and Nick de Kousemaeker has a Dine out of the box, where you definitely sit at the table for two and a half hours. And if I were you, I would also take a look at the wine list. Tip for Rotterdam and surroundings.

Paisan in Hilversum
If you, like me, love Mediterranean cuisine, then definitely stick around. Paisan covers almost all corners of the Mediterranean and makes the most divine hummus ever. This weekend, I have shakshuka, burrata, falafel, and lamb kebab on the menu (and hummus, duh), but I also foresee a holiday box around Christmas.

VanDalen Gastrobar in Vlaardingen
There are plenty of delicious dishes on the menu of Van Dalen. I'm considering pretending I live in Vlaardingen. At Christmas, they have an amazing box, and before and after that, you can order a great three-course menu.

Ruby Rose in Utrecht
Take everything you like, put it in one box, and pick it up at Ruby Rose. It can only be that they thought of this when the menu was put together. Also suitable for vegetarians, because then you just get your own variant.

Restaurant Vlaar in ’s-Graveland
Another one I want to try myself, but it is my list and therefore allowed. No box this time, but à la carte to order. Feels just like before corona. The steak tartare, a Vlaar salad with fried wild prawns, a sole fillet, a forest mushroom lasagna, a selection of three cheeses… Thank goodness I live around the corner.

Brasserie Lolita in Amsterdam
You are doing something incredibly right if your restaurant box seems to become a legend in Amsterdam. ‘The necessary surprises’ are indeed real surprises. This box is an experience in itself. Already looking forward to a un Noël avec Lolita.

Backyard in Rotterdam
Plant-based, vegan-friendly, and snack boxes to go, that's what you get when you order from Backyard in Rotterdam. I haven't tasted it myself yet, but there are good stories going around about it.

Café Caron throughout the Netherlands
Christmas with Caron, who wouldn't want that? Together with wine merchant de Gouden Ton, Caron puts something special on your table. Throughout the whole country. How incredibly delicious is that? All the bells and whistles with a Christmas menu or would you rather have a platter; it can all.

Paco Ciao in Leiden
Good news for Leiden and surroundings: the Paco’s Foodbox, a Bavette Bag or would you prefer the Veggie Bag? Oh, just go take a look, too fun not to order.

De Librije in Zwolle
Learn to cook like at De Librije. No restaurant box but a lesson from Jonnie himself or a wine tasting from Thérèse. You are guaranteed to be cooking stars in the sky at Christmas.

Breda in Amsterdam
Breda at home, it’s possible. You can order the four-course menu from Breda through almost every delivery service. Super convenient and I also find it very affordable. Tip for home.

Jaimie van Heije in Ouderkerk a/d Amstel
Always nice when someone slides into my inbox to alert me to yet another divine menu. This time Jaimie van Heije was tipped, and especially his funny videos with instructions are popular among the enthusiasts, just like his food by the way.
