Best news of the day: this is when the Friends reunion will be aired

Oh. My. GOD. I can't really believe this news yet, but it certainly seems serious. Friends. Is coming back. Back. Since that series ended in 2004, there has been a rumor almost every month that a reboot or comeback was on the way. But that was never the case. I wonder how many times the cast has been asked that question, and each time it was denied. Because those plans simply didn't exist. Until last year, when those plans were suddenly no longer denied. Then Jennifer Aniston suddenly appeared on Instagram with a photo of all six of them. And then Matthew Perry also tweeted this week that ‘big news’ was coming. It can't be any other way, right? That reunion is coming. And soon too.

At least, that's what the source Deadline says, which is usually quite accurate. Earlier, this same source reported that all six of the Friends are in, and now they also say they know when it will be online. And that is... in May. Yes, May this year. Honestly: I think it's quite reasonable how long we have to wait. The only thing we need to do to see this reunion is to arrange the HBO streaming service. Share a gigantic subscription with everyone? After a membership on Netflix and Videoland, I'm not exactly jumping to add another one, but of course, I don't want to miss that reunion.

A financial detail is that all six Friends members are getting quite a bit for it: between three and four million for one episode. Additionally, HBO also paid over 400 million for the streaming rights. So, that's quite serious money. And there isn't really much preparation for the actors themselves: the reunion is said to be unscripted. That's what I'm most curious about. After playing the same character for ten years (and still being bombarded with questions about it sixteen years later), I think they know their alter egos pretty well. But I hope that unscripted doesn't mean it will be some sort of gigantic interview with all six of them. We just want to know how Chandler and Monica are (and with the twins), whether Emma (who is now 18) is also pursuing a career in fashion, and if Phoebe and Mike are still together, and of course, I expect Joey to still be single.

As soon as a definitive date is known, you'll read it here, but for now, you should just block off the entire month of May in your calendar. There's no other option. Hey, but we've waited sixteen years, so a month isn't too bad, right? We were on a BREAK, but a pretty long one. Reunited after sixteen years. Friends is our lobster.
