Carolien took Otis back to the daycare
It's Monday morning. I get a message from my girlfriend: ‘I'm going to Roya tomorrow at 1 PM, do you want to come?’ Tears well up in my eyes: finally my face is back! Okay, this sounds quite weird and absurd, but it's not a word of a lie, because for many, Roya is the ‘queen of eyebrows’. I have very light eyebrows, so for the past few months it really felt like I was missing some expression when I didn't reach for my eyebrow pencil. And now that beauty salons are allowed to open again, it will probably be busy at Roya with all the ladies wanting their eyebrows back ‘on fleek’. Isn't this a bit superficial? Certainly. But in these times with so much misery around us, it's also nice to look forward to these little moments of happiness again.
I started off so well, really. At the beginning of the lockdown, I cooked every evening: recipes from my mom, cookbooks that were finally taken out of the cellophane... But then the restaurants started making brilliant take-away menus for a really nice price and now we almost eat ‘out’ at home three times a week... I must mention that we don't take this for granted and really make an outing of it, by sitting together at a small table with white pressed table linen, accompanied by some music and a candle. This week we got to taste the delicious, classic French cuisine from Brasserie Ambassade. And I think it's so impressive that all the dishes reach our home so well each time. A salad chèvre chaud just like you get served in the restaurant, the best asparagus soup ever, and Jon felt like he was in France with his perfect confit de canard. There were still plenty of dishes on the take-away menu that I want to try, so I wouldn't rule out that next week the table linen will be pressed for the same restaurant...
This week feels a bit like we're going back to our old rhythm with Otis going to daycare. I hesitated for a moment whether we should bring him back right away, but especially for Otis, I find it nice and important that he can play with other kids again. When we dropped him off, he had a little pout, but by the end of the day, he hardly wanted to leave and I heard he had a wonderful day: as if he had never been away. It's so beautiful to see how quickly children can adapt.
A few years ago, Vivian was still taking beautiful photos for Amayzine and now she is one of the biggest influencers and is launching her own swimwear collection for Hunkemöller this week. With the beautiful and important message that every woman's body is beautiful and should be celebrated. No skinny models, but ‘real’ women are featured in the photos. You go, Vivian, I can't wait for this summer in our own country.
