running 5 kilometers within a month

Or did we want to experience a lovely dinner à deux ‘at a lonely height’? Even before I checked with Jon, I texted the babysitter to see if she was available. During the lockdown, we were so good at date nights at home, but in the past few months, this has fallen by the wayside. So last week we headed to hotel QO to enjoy a romantic dinner in a suite with a beautiful view. And that wasn't the only surprise: in front of us was the latest gadget from Samsung, The Sero, presented: a kind of giant tablet that is compatible with your phone and thus shows everything you see on your phone, including the screen that rotates vertically or horizontally. In the end, we barely had eyes for each other and just played with this gadget...

It's no secret that the hospitality industry is struggling: operating at half capacity, the absence of tourists... But fortunately, many restaurants are also becoming incredibly creative. For example, Pasta e Basta (delicious Italian food accompanied by live singing) has managed to secure an impressive list of amazing artists to come and sing. I took my parents to an evening with Jeroen van der Boom, and it literally felt like a private concert, so intimate and cool. Among others, Trijntje Oosterhuis, Jandino, and Rolf Sanchez are still on the ‘menu’ in the coming months, but you can also book one of the amazing star chefs who will take over the kitchen for an evening and enjoy all the ‘in-house’ singing talent. Really a recommendation for a special evening.

On a blue Monday, I once started training for a half marathon: a week and a sprained ankle later, I sadly stopped. I am so competitive that when I can't do something well after a few tries, I prefer to stop altogether. But now that I have been challenged by ASICS to run five kilometers in a month and especially to explore what this does to my mind, I will give it another shot. The big difference: it's not about the end goal at all, but about the journey there and especially about setting a realistic goal. What also helps: getting the right footwear. I turned out to be running in totally the wrong shoe, but well: now that I have the right gear and tips, I can't blame anything or anyone else anymore. I will keep you updated on my challenge.

For my sister, her birthday is sacred. Every year we go out to eat with the family, she prefers to wear a crown, and I do my best to find the most beautiful birthday cake ever for her. Traditionally, I always order it from Life of Pie, who truly make jewels that you almost don't dare to eat, so beautiful. Now we have already had quite a few cakes, and thus making an original choice is getting harder and harder. But fortunately, it worked again! Red velvet with Oreo flavor: I think I will skip dinner and immediately ask for dessert.
