“Or if I ever felt overwhelmed…”

woman with a baby photoshoot black and whiteYesterday I received such a sincere message on Instagram from a, in her words, ‘insecure mother’. Whether I, like her, ever felt overwhelmed and struggled with breastfeeding issues, sleepless nights, cramps, and so on. I try to regularly post about mommy struggles on Instagram, because believe me: every mother with a small baby struggles with these things. It would be great if we could show these struggles a bit more, not only on social media but also live from mother to mother, so we can help and support each other. I saw a beautiful initiative from the pop-up store Motherhood, which organizes an afternoon for moms to come together and share these struggles or other mommy experiences. Maybe I’ll take a look too.

Just a shoutout to my dear friend Géza Weisz who opened his third hospitality business last week. I think it’s so amazing that he has found his passion; as soon as he starts talking about it, his eyes start to sparkle. He has completely taken care of the interior of wine bar Gertrude, and it looks beautiful: a lovely French living room where you want to hang out all evening. Tonight we are going to taste from the wine and menu for the first time, I’m very curious. Gertrude officially opens on March 8.chanel creamI am extremely happy that Jon is taking the morning shifts with Otis, because I honestly wouldn’t know how to lift myself out of bed at 7:00 AM: every morning it feels like three trains have run over me and I drank non-stop belly shots at a bar the night before. Fortunately, the nights are getting better and I feel a bit more vital each week. I do notice that my skin could use a little extra care during this period, and as if my prayers were answered, the new Sublimage Lumière Skincare from Chanel suddenly arrived in the mail. The line reduces pigmentation irregularities and literally makes your face glow. Seriously, I’ve been getting daily compliments about my skin this past week. I just hope Jon doesn’t start thinking that I can handle that morning shift on my own from now on…Soap During my pregnancies, I was extra sensitive to smells: suddenly I found my hand soap really nauseating and could only tolerate the perfume from Gray Label (Nurture). But now I’m really in the mood for new scents and immediately raced to Skins for a new perfume. And I also shopped for the bathroom: the mama and baby line from Kenkô. The scents are completely tailored to mom and baby, hypoallergenic, and smell really wonderful. I always associate scents with periods, so these fragrances will now remind me of Elias’ first months.
