Exercising after pregnancy

Now that my abdominal muscles have grown back together well, I dared to go to the gym again... With running and jumping, you still have to be careful, so I decided to take a boxing class. During the class, I felt really great: finally a little hour for myself, mind off, and working up a sweat. Even once home, after the class, I immediately thought: I'm going to do this twice a week from now on, so nice. However, the next morning I could hardly move from the muscle soreness... Note to self: that eagerness is not necessarily beneficial when you need to build something up ‘gently’. Let's start with once a week, don't you think?

If you can develop a clothing line that people recognize on the street season after season, then you're doing pretty well. And Fabienne Chapot has achieved this: her cheerful prints are surprising every season, but you can immediately see that it's ‘a real Chapot’. All prints are hand-drawn or painted, and it was truly a party to get a glimpse into their kitchen at the design department. You can probably guess which print the three of us are the biggest fans of...

“Caar, does it really have to? We already take so many photos...” Jon wasn't exactly jumping for joy when I told him I had scheduled a family shoot. It's true that we really take more than enough photos, but never one where we're all in it together. Now I must honestly admit that I was a bit hesitant too, because I see more of those overly posed and thought-out family portraits than genuine and spontaneous ones. But with photographer Marilyn Bartman, we were exactly on the same page, and she captured the in-between moments perfectly. Of course, we also needed a nice family portrait looking at the camera, and even that looks spontaneous and not too posed. I'm so glad we did this; from now on, I want to have our family captured this way every year. And Jon is fortunately now on board with me.

The only downside to feeling so good is that I'm secretly taking on a bit too much again. An appointment here, an interview there, and I've even been at a vintage market with my stuff... When it comes to openings and events, I RSVP very selectively, but for the launch of Lonneke Nootenboom's collection for Shoeby, I was more than happy to make an exception. When I open that woman's Instagram account, I want her entire wardrobe, and this collection was no exception. I immediately ordered two dresses online, and that's a good thing too, because everything is already sold out online. Don't worry: the collection is still available in fifty selected Shoeby stores. But don't wait too long, I would say.
