The tip to start every morning in quarantine

Carolien's fast lane life April 15

Another week has passed in quarantine… We have gotten a bit used to our ‘new life’ and actually everything is going well. We are healthy, even saw grandma and grandpa from a distance this week and are enjoying the lovely sunshine on our rooftop terrace. Until yesterday suddenly a very good friend sent the sweetest voice message ever. Spontaneously, tears rolled down my cheeks, right in the Albert Heijn. Suddenly I felt the absence of my dear friends immensely and the fact that I have actually spoken to them very little in the past weeks. Jon and I have been quite strict with ourselves and have really seen no one else, but from now on we are going to invite a girlfriend to the roof or take a walk in the park with a friend, everything obviously at a proper distance. Because life is way too short to spend it completely without your friends.

Last weekend such a beautiful gift was delivered: from a girlfriend I received The Karma Box as a gift: a lovely foodie package consisting of vegan products of local origin. A few items were already on my list to test once, so this package came just in time. I haven't tasted everything yet, but the ‘Karma Shoarma’ was so delicious that we immediately ordered an extra batch. And the Grünten Veggie Oats are an absolute recommendation: a breakfast that tastes like a dessert. Really a recommendation if you want to send someone something nicer than a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates.

Tomorrow Elias will be three months old and despite the fact that we are home a lot, time is really flying by! Jon thought he was only nine weeks old: think again… Elias is babbling happily and you can see him making more contact every day. To mention one advantage of this situation: this quality time with the kids no one can take away from us.

Every day Jon and I try to remind ourselves how good we have it and how blessed we are with each other and our family. That sounds very cheesy, but especially at moments when you are feeling down, it really works to force your mind to be positive. Last year I met Sophie from ‘So V's Choice’ and she inspired me enormously: with her podcasts, events, and coaching she helps you spiritually get the most out of yourself. Even if you are not spiritually inclined at all, it is really worth listening to her podcast once. She just launched her new book: ‘Instructions for an Enlightened Life’, and this seems to me the perfect time to delve into this. Tip: start each morning with a cheering movement directed towards heaven and with a big smile on your face. By now Otis is joining in too and believe me: you will feel a lot happier right away.
