CBD oil: what is it and does it work?

I have written before that I am not the best sleeper and that I am quite willing to conduct some experiments to see if it improves sleep. Now, not sleeping much is of course a problem, but my brain isn't exactly cooperating either. Because every time I wake up, I'm immediately switched on. Brain. Working. Overtime.
And those brains just keep being overactive until I fall asleep from exhaustion deep in the night. And then I wake up between 6 and 7 o'clock and the cycle starts again. So then I thought: I can handle that sleep deprivation, but I need to try to find more rest when I am awake. Seemed like a logical solution.
Then I got the tip to use CBD oil. Just like many others, my first reaction was: no weed in my body. I have never been a smoker (although I have also received that as a tip for going to sleep) and the idea of hanging out stoned on the couch doesn't appeal to me much either. But even though CBD oil comes from the cannabis, hashish, and hemp plants, the substance that normally gets you high – THC – is not in it. CBD only works relaxing.
Well, let's put it to the test. Beforehand, I read a bit about the positive effects CBD oil would have and then I was convinced. A few examples:
- Can contribute to a good mental balance
- Helps with inner restlessness (that was the most important for me)
- Promotes your concentration and memory
- Helps with better learning performance
- Helps with fatigue and tiredness (yes, I want that too)
- Good for heart and blood vessels
- Good for your liver
Well, there are many more advantages, but I found this already enough. Off to Holland & Barrett, shocked by how expensive that oil is (I got it for around thirty euros), still bought it and sat on the bench.
My experience? I honestly became very relaxed from it. I put on a movie and could really enjoy doing absolutely nothing, and especially from the lesser busyness I had in my head. That it could enhance your concentration, in my case, is really not true. Meanwhile, I use that CBD oil twice a week, but one time it went wrong.
Then I went last-minute (after that oil) to the terrace with a friend of mine. Zero. Concentration. I was very zen, mind you, but not the most pleasant company. So I keep it indoors. But if you suffer from stress or like me can't clear your head very well or relax: try this. Really.
