Drama and intrigue? This is what we can expect from the dating show Prince Charming

Ten men in one house, fighting for the heart of one prince. Or rather, actually the heart of 29-year-old Marvin from Tegelen, but the fact that he looks princely is certain. Tomorrow, Videoland will launch the first two episodes online and something in me says this is going to be a hit. Let's check in with Mister Prince Charming himself...
Marvin, first things first, what can we expect from Prince Charming?
“A delightful romantic quest of a man searching for love. Of course, with the necessary drama, discussions, and competition among the men. The eye wants something too, so be prepared for hot images.”
And for everyone who thinks: this is a gay spin-off of The Bachelor(ette), that's not entirely the case, right?
“No, they are two different formats, but to be honest: they have a lot of similarities. The biggest differences are the fact that a man is looking for a man, the rose ceremony is replaced by the tie ceremony, and there are more casual settings in Prince Charming.”
Very awkward to say about yourself, I get it. But name one: what is your most charming trait?
“I am quite a modest person, I think that is my most charming trait.”
What kind of guy were you hoping to hook up with in Sicily?
“I was hoping for that ‘first real click’. I want a buddy and a passionate lover in one. In terms of appearance, I'm not very picky, although I do have a preference for light eyes. Fortunately, all the candidates are handsome. That didn't make it any easier.”
The weirdest thing you can share with us that you experienced during the recordings?
“On top of a mountain, in the middle of a bizarre thunderstorm with hailstones as big as marbles, playing the horse whisperer. It was terrifying but also very beautiful at the same time. Unfortunately, this is not on film, but it is forever etched in my memory, haha.”
I can imagine that a lot of men (and also women) were waiting for a format like this. What did it mean for you that for the first time a gay dating show is visible on Videoland?
“Personally, I was never really involved with the program before, but now that it is here, I really realize how important it is that a program like this finally comes on air in the Netherlands. Acceptance of gay people is getting better, but we are still far from there. I hope that with this program we can contribute to progress in this and show that we are also ‘normal people’.”
Oh, come on, a little promo. Why do we want to watch tomorrow?
“You will be taken into a dream world in beautiful Sicily. You can expect to watch everything that happens during the program with a smile and a tear. And then that sizzling finale...”
