Everything you want to know about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Representative Ted Yoho called Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez disgusting, crazy, and not right in the head. And all of this on the steps of The Capitol, where she retorted and told him he was rude and went on with her day. But not long after, he labeled her in front of the press as a (I quote) fucking bitch. She did not engage with this either, until Yoho attempted to clean up his act and hid behind the fact that he has a wife and two daughters (?).

Ocasio-Cortez responded in a powerful speech that went viral. The fact that Yoho is a husband and father should not be an excuse. The remarks from the Republican congressman did not affect her much at first, because it is not new for a woman in New York to hear this, and that is precisely the problem. Having a daughter is not an excuse, having a daughter does not mean this should be accepted, having a daughter does not mean you are ‘decent’. Ocasio-Cortez responded in a ‘point of personal privilege’ precisely because of the so-called excuses Yoho made. Finally, she thanks him for showing that you can be a powerful man and still harass women.

What do we know about this impressive woman from New York?

1. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (31) was in 2019 upon her election to Congress for the Democrats the youngest congress member ever in America. The abbreviation used for her is AOC.

2. She grew up in the Bronx in New York and previously worked at a children's book publisher to ensure that this neighborhood was portrayed more positively. After moving to Yorktown, she increasingly saw the differences in opportunities based on zip code, and this was the foundation for her political career.

3. In her second week in Congress, Ocasio-Cortez was kindly asked to only criticize Republicans, as she was involved in a protest against a measure by Nancy Pelosi.

4. Trump once tweeted about AOC that she should go back to her ‘own’ country to rebuild her totally destroyed country, instead of telling great Americans how to run their country. These tweets from the president were officially labeled as racist. What does she say about Trump? “I don’t think he knows how to deal with a young woman from the Bronx.” Hear hear.

5. In space, there is an asteroid named 23238 Ocasio-Cortez, named after her by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology because she came in second in a science competition. Second, yes. Which is already genius in my opinion.

6. It seems that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can dance incredibly well. Although she declined the invitation to show her moves in a TikTok video.

7. AOC has a huge reach on social media, with 5.5 million followers on Instagram alone. Where you can find not only her work as a congress member but also her cutest bulldog ever named Deco. The name comes from art deco, the design style that Alexandria and her boyfriend Riley Roberts like the most.

8. Ocasio-Cortez worked in a cocktail bar in Manhattan in 2018. She is very open about income inequality. She lets it be known that she cannot afford an apartment in Washington until she receives her first salary as a congress member.

Also take the time to watch her speech on YouTube again. You rock, Alexandria. AOC for president, if you ask my humble opinion.
