Representative Ted Yoho called Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez disgusting, crazy, and not right in the head. And all of this on the steps of The Capitol, where she retorted and told him he was rude and went on with her day. But not long after, he labeled her in front of the press as a (I quote) fucking bitch. She did not engage with this either, until Yoho attempted to clean up his act and hid behind the fact that he has a wife and two daughters (?).
Ocasio-Cortez responded in a powerful speech that went viral. The fact that Yoho is a husband and father should not be an excuse. The remarks from the Republican congressman did not affect her much at first, because it is not new for a woman in New York to hear this, and that is precisely the problem. Having a daughter is not an excuse, having a daughter does not mean this should be accepted, having a daughter does not mean you are ‘decent’. Ocasio-Cortez responded in a ‘point of personal privilege’ precisely because of the so-called excuses Yoho made. Finally, she thanks him for showing that you can be a powerful man and still harass women.

1. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (31) was in 2019 upon her election to Congress for the Democrats the youngest congress member ever in America. The abbreviation used for her is AOC.

4. Trump once tweeted about AOC that she should go back to her ‘own’ country to rebuild her totally destroyed country, instead of telling great Americans how to run their country. 8. Ocasio-Cortez worked in a cocktail bar in Manhattan in 2018. She is very open about income inequality. She lets it be known that she cannot afford an apartment in Washington until she receives her first salary as a congress member.
