This is the most powerful woman in the US

Nancy Pelosi in the US during a speech

Last year, Nancy Pelosi made history by giving a polite applause when Donald Trump delivered his State of The Union. This year called for more, namely to tear his speech to pieces with a triumphant gesture while holding her nose in the air. Hence, here are some delightful Pelosi facts in a row.

1. She is third in line for power. Imagine, oh wonderful world, if Trump decides to step down and his vice president is also unavailable and unwilling, then Nancy takes over.

2. She is the first woman to become Speaker of the House of Representatives. She held that position from 2003 to 2007 and now she is it again.

3. Her father and mother were active in politics and as a child, she already helped her father with his campaign events. Her father eventually became the mayor of Baltimore.

4. Nancy Pelosi was present at the inauguration of John F. Kennedy as president of the United States.

5. Nancy Pelosi's net worth (her maiden name is D’Alesandro, she is of Italian-American descent) is estimated at 58 million dollars.

6. This places her 13th among the richest 25 members of Congress.

7. Their real estate portfolio adds to that. They are said to own properties worth 14.6 million.

8. I am even more envious of her vineyard St. Helena in Napa Valley than of her wardrobe.

9. Pelosi is 78 years young and has also brought five children into the world alongside her career.

10. One of her daughters married journalist Michiel Vos, which means she is a bit one of us. Yes, that's how I am: take what you can get.

11. When a photo was taken of the new committee (let's say all the Democratic chairs) early last year, Nancy popped out of the picture in her fuchsia suit with matching pumps. And how elegantly she sat there with her legs neatly crossed. She truly blew everyone away. When it was written about, and rightly so, it was said that it was sexist (gaahaap) to write about a woman's clothing style because you wouldn't do that for a man. No, because they don't look that great. How delightful I found the response from American Harper’s Bazaar; “If discussing Pelosi’s style is wrong, we don’t want to be right.”

12. Speaking of that style, Pelosi has a wide variety of pumps. Pick any color from your RAL color chart and I would bet my last dime that Nancy has a pair in that shade. The most delightful story is that she once gave a speech that lasted nine hours (I repeat NINE hours). According to the White House's house historian, this was the longest speech given since 1909, which is already worth a medal, if it weren't for the fact that Pelosi did it standing up, in 10-centimeter heels. During her speech, someone captured an image of her heels, which immediately went viral on Twitter with the hashtag #goNancygo.

13. I think it’s a nice phrase to end this ode with: #gonancygo and please #staynancystay.
