Going on vacation is unfortunately not an option for now. At least until April 28, and if you want to follow Rutte's advice, you'll be staying home for a while after that too. Hopefully in the summer then, or away in the autumn. It is what it is for now, but where there's a will, there's a way of course. So in quarantine, I just dream away with movies that make me feel a bit like I'm abroad, for that placebo vacation feeling. Admittedly: it's not quite the same as a weekend away or a vacation, but it's currently the best alternative. On y va.
1. Eat, Pray, Love Dinners in Italy, prayers in India, love in Bali. A half-world trip has never been so cheap...
2. Costa! HAHA. Summer in Salou, anyone?
3. Holiday In The Wild Officially a Christmas movie, but filmed in South Africa so it definitely counts.
4. Euro Trip Golden oldie that even features Amsterdam (fun fact: this was actually filmed in Prague) and other European cities.
5. The Beach Leo DiCaprio on a deserted Thai beach. When are we going?
6. Wild With Reese Witherspoon and the ultimate movie to awaken your wanderlust (I really hate that word).
7. Seven Years In Tibet Another golden oldie, featuring a particularly handsome Brad Pitt in undiscovered Tibet. Beautiful images.
8. Sex and the City Part 1, of course, part 2 was possibly even worse (but it was in Abu Dhabi). NYC is always a good idea.
9. Mamma Mia! Sing along and feel like you're on a Greek island; great combination.
10. In Love with Ibiza Same category as Costa!, but unfortunately, there's no other option to see some of Ibiza.
11. Slumdog Millionaire For a quick trip through the slums of India (and just an incredibly good movie).
12. Vicky Cristina Barcelona Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, and Javier Bardem in Barcelona... I don't think I need to say anything else.
13. Into The Wild If the United States appeals to you a bit, this is a top movie. A man who travels alone with Alaska as the ultimate goal.
