From sunscreen rogue to sunscreen hero: these products you want to know before you turn thirty

That neighbor who is always busy on the balcony moving her flower pots doesn't use sun protection. I know that. She sits for hours on a folding chair and by now her skin looks like leather. Note to self, Kiek: you don't want that.
Now I must honestly admit that I also joined Team Sunscreen a bit late. Around my fourteenth, I wanted nothing more than to be brown, browner, brownest, so I eagerly bought minutes at tanning salons, and if I did apply sunscreen on vacation, it was with nut oil factor 4. If I was feeling wild, maybe 6. Yikes.
But then you get older (read: wiser) and you start to realize that your skin is your largest organ and how important it actually is to take good care of it. Maybe you start to see those first fine lines on your face and some small pigmentation spots. With a corona summer where we can't do much more than chill in Playa del Achtertuinos, I tell you: applying is starting on time. It is (besides drinking water!) the only trick to keep your skin extra, extra, extra beautiful for a long time.
Anyway, from sunscreen delinquent to sunscreen goodie. I’m sharing my three favorites (my ‘first real’ sun care set was one from Lancaster – they of the nice orange bottles and tubes – and ever since I've been hooked). Just look.
For the face: Sun Sport Invisible Face Gel SPF30
Yesss, ideal for active people and athletes. Do you run a lot? Are you sitting outside with a yoga mat on the grass? This sun protection ensures that you get an even tan and muy importante: it doesn't stick.
For the body: Sun Beauty Protective Water SPF30
Feels refreshing, doesn't stick, and is super chill for when you have a busy day. And not unimportant: the product is ocean-friendly and made with natural ingredients. Additionally, the spray contains Full Light Technology, which protects you against all sun rays (UVA, UVB, visible light, and infrared light). Just shake well, apply generously and you’re good to go.
For after sun exposure: Golden Tan Maximizer After Sun Oil
I mean: fine if you use body lotion after sun exposure, but don't forget the aftersun? A body lotion doesn't have the qualities that aftersun possesses: cooling, hydrating, and caring for your skin after sun exposure. Additionally, it prevents pigmentation spots and skin aging (lines and wrinkles) caused by the sun. With this Golden Tan Maximizer, you can keep your tan for up to 1 month longer, and it's a very nice oil that gives your skin a beautiful shimmer and absolutely does not stick. I can't say it often enough: Use. Aftersun. After. The. Sun.
For a daily tan: SUN 365 Instant Self Tanning Jelly
I'm normally not a fan of tinted self-tanners (streaky, ‘fake tan’, I don't know) but this one is a winner. You apply a thin layer and within an hour the end result is already visible. A golden brown tan that does not look fake. At least on my legs! Just let it dry well before getting dressed.
So, all applied and ready. And now I'm diving into my hammock if you don't mind. Bye!
