Here you shop for clothing made from wine and coffee next month

‘H&M launches collection with clothing made from coffee and wine’ sounds to me like the best idea ever. I mean: a good outfit combined with a glass of wine? Great combination, right? Especially when it comes to an environmentally friendly and sustainable clothing line from one of our favorite fashion chains. A case of ‘we want to know much more about this’. So you understand: I immediately dove into it.
Here's the thing: in 2017, H&M discovered, through their own Global Change Award, vega, a soft fabric made from wine. The idea was to see this fabric as a replacement for leather, which will mainly be used for bags and shoes. After a lot of experiments, fitting sessions, and even more testing, the design team found out that coffee can mean more than just a caffeine boost for us. The coffee beans (from their own office in China) can also be used as dye. And now you’re probably curious about when you can admire this collection? Quite soon. The new Conscious Exclusive collection has been available in the Netherlands since March 26. They will mainly be timeless items aimed at reducing consumption. ‘It’s not just about materials, but also about how we can design clothing that lasts longer and ultimately gets recycled,’ says Pascal Brun, H&M's sustainability manager. Just 52 days to go, guys. I’m so curious. And until then, I’ll just drink extra coffee and wine to celebrate. Who’s with me?
