How you can still celebrate National Girlfriend Day
Happy Saturday in quarantine, everyone. A bit boring of course, but today is a special day. It is National Girlfriend Day and you can celebrate it even in lockdown. With a bit of improvisation, you can still put your BFFs in the spotlight. And to be honest: especially in these corona times, it's extra nice to show your friends that you appreciate them? I think everyone could use a little cheering up right now. And yes, you can of course walk at a distance of one and a half meters and just catch up, but it is National Girlfriend Day, so we are going to do it a bit more special. Here are some tips on how to let each other know you are happy with each other even without seeing and/or touching.
Send a card and/or gift
And you don't have to put it in the mail yourself, but just nicely via Hallmark or Greetz. You can even customize it yourself and add a flower or another gift. I think receiving mail is super fun, much more fun than an email, so this is a great opportunity to send out a lot of those cards.
Send a flower bouquet
I mentioned it briefly in the tip above, but you can also send a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Under the motto of ‘support small businesses’, this is also a great idea, because those small florists currently have zero income. For example, via the app and site of Whoppah, they will even deliver it for free.
With your endless Houseparty with your girlfriend group
Yes, I wrote about it last week, but I am completely a fan of this app. You can FaceTime with eight people at the same time and play games with eight people. I love games and this quarantine is just quite lonely and boring, so seeing seven other happy faces does me a lot of good.
Give a gift card for your favorite restaurant
This is also a bit under the motto of ‘support small businesses’, but it's also a very nice one. Because we won't be stuck in this situation forever (thank goodness), so it's okay to look a bit towards the future. Treat each other to a dinner voucher from your favorite restaurant, so you can go out to eat together as soon as possible and drink a lot of wine without having to keep one and a half meters apart.
Send a bottle of wine
Desperate times call for desperate measures… Or well, it is still the weekend and that often includes a glass of wine. So buy wine, or even better: champagne, and toast together to your friendship. Virtually, of course.
