Kim K. celebrates her birthday and shows that she is not like you and me

Kim Kardashian
That the lives of the Kardashians and mine don't have much in common, I already knew that. I might not have needed all the seasons of KUWTK for that, but I'm not going to lie: I have spent a lot of time on it. And of course, it's just delightful to hate-watch or put it on when you want something mindless or due to lack of better options. Whatever the reason, I find them quite entertaining. But besides the looks, the ladies themselves have also changed quite a bit since season 1... And have become increasingly tone-deaf.

Of course, you already had the ad from Kendall Jenner where she made it seem like police violence, racism, and all the violence in the world could be solved with a can of Pepsi and wow, that backfired. Kendall crying because she didn't mean it that way. She couldn't have known, of course, because she probably has never participated in a demonstration.

But then Kim Kardashian turns 40 and that must be celebrated, of course. Not just because it's a festive occasion, you know. No: it's of course the almost-last season of KUWTK, so everything has to be as glamorous as possible. There could be a pandemic going on, but that won't dampen the fun.

So Kim just celebrated it. AND HOW. Madam rented a private island and sent all her friends and family there. I initially guessed all her plastic surgeons because she wrote on Twitter that she was bringing ‘some of the people who have helped shape me into the woman I am today’, but that was meant figuratively and not literally.

‘After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time,’ was the next Twitter message. Ah, don't you long for those moments when everything was just normal again and visits to private islands were just part of the day? Stupid corona. I haven't been able to visit my island for months now.

‘I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now,’ she also writes. And yes, Kim, that is indeed quite far out of reach for us. And pictures say more than a thousand words, so here’s how we celebrated our birthday during corona time.

This is how Kim celebrates her birthday:

And this is how the rest of the world would celebrate it:

To speak in the legendary words of Kourtney: ‘Kim, there’s people that are dying.’
