Losing weight without dieting

I don't really believe in diets. You ultimately can't stick to them anyway. I do believe in a different way of thinking that determines your eating behavior. And in the VDH diet by Daphne Deckers. Eat Half. It can't be simpler. There are some scientifically proven ways to lose weight without having to do any weird stunts. Just a matter of using a bigger fork.

1. Fast above liquid

Instead of a glass of orange juice, you might as well eat an orange. Juice contains the calories of three oranges and it doesn't really satisfy your hunger. Win-win if you just eat it.

2. Eat mindfully

I know so many mothers who, while clearing the breakfast table, quickly shove down two crusts of bread with Nutella. They've skipped their own breakfast due to lack of time, but they just grab these because otherwise it's such a waste. Don't do it. Make your own plate, think about the table for a moment, and be aware of every bite.

3. Sit a bit away from the table

Now, I'm not assuming that you're leaning on the table with your left forearm while shoving food in with your right, but really: if there's literal distance between you and the plate, you can stop eating more easily.

4. Drink coffee

Coffee suppresses hunger. Don't secretly add whole milk and sugar.

5. Eat some ginger

That's healthy anyway and it lowers your blood sugar level.

6. Eat spicy

That gives a feeling of fullness sooner and you burn more calories.

7. Eat from a smaller plate

They do that in the ‘canteen’ at Google. This way you eat less.

8. Eat with a larger fork

That seems to be a total discrepancy with point 7, but research has shown that people who eat with a larger fork eat ten percent less than those who eat with a small fork.

Above all, remember that you are good as you feel good. Don't let yourself be dictated by a prevailing fashion image. But if you just want to get rid of those six cheese fondues and forty Christmas cookies (guilty) from your hips, I think this is a much more useful way than, I just mention a side street, an apple diet.
