Mariah Carey lashes out at Ellen DeGeneres

Is the week really officially started if there is no dirt thrown about Ellen DeGeneres into the world? Not if it’s up to Mariah Carey. The singer seems to want to throw a little more oil on the fire by sharing an old incident with Ellen in an interview with Vulture. In 2008, Ellen put her on the spot in her show by repeatedly asking if she was pregnant. When Mariah didn’t want to answer that, she was offered a glass of champagne. ‘I can’t believe you’re doing this to me, Ellen,’ Mariah said at the time. Ellen responded with: ‘Let’s toast to the fact that you’re not pregnant, if you’re not pregnant.’ Mariah then took a cautious fake sip, after which Ellen exclaimed: ‘So you are pregnant!’

Later, Mariah confirmed that she had indeed been pregnant during the broadcast, but had a miscarriage a week later. ‘Ellen made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Empathy would have been appropriate at that moment. But what could I do?’ Well, that wasn’t really handy, Ellen. The only thing I wonder is what exactly the point is for Mariah to share this information from 2008 again. Revenge is bittersweet, I guess.
