Most read: Celebrities you didn't know were related

Because you probably haven't been able to read everything due to quarantine, lockdowns, and press conferences: this is one of our top scorers of the year. Grab the wine, truffle cheese, and your blanket, and enjoy reading back. Or cookies and chocolate, that’s fine too, of course.

It’s all in the family… Even in Hollywood. It may not come as a complete surprise that it’s one big community there, with many family ties. And I’m not talking about Chris and Liam Hemsworth or Miley and Noah Cyrus — we all know they are related. Although Miley Cyrus is indeed on this list with a notable family member. Because yes, those celebrities are all family to each other. Lucky bastards. I only have a crazy uncle and a derailed cousin here and there, but there’s not a single celebrity among them, you know. No, I’d rather have Snoop Dogg as a cousin (how fun?) or Dolly Parton as my godmother… Seems much more fun to me.

Some people just really have luck in that regard. Because you don’t choose your family, right? But if they could choose, they probably wouldn’t change a thing.

Miley Cyrus & Dolly Parton
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene Joooleeeeneeee… The singer of my favorite song of all time is related to Miley Cyrus: she is actually her godmother. So no blood relation, but I still call this family. And that results in not only a very strong bond but also very strong duets, like this version of Jolene. Love it.

Beyoncé & Bianca Lawson
Does the name Bianca Lawson not ring a bell? That’s that one actress who just doesn’t seem to age. Seriously, I’d love to know her secret. Not so long ago, she played Emily’s girlfriend in Pretty Little Liars, while she was already 31. Just to be clear: she played a fifteen or sixteen-year-old in the series. She did that back in 2002 as well, in Save The Last Dance. NOTHING has changed. Bizarre. But well, good genes are clearly in the family, even though she is not blood-related to Queen B. They are stepsisters: Beyoncé’s mother is married to Bianca’s father.

Emily Blunt & Stanley Tucci
These two Hollywood stars are also not family by blood, but by marriage: Stanley Tucci is married to Emily Blunt’s sister. Which makes him family to John Krasinski as well… One big happy family.

Julia Roberts & Emma Roberts
The last name gives it away a bit, although Roberts is a fairly standard name in America. But in this case, they are really family: Julia is Emma’s aunt. Both have acting careers, although Emma doesn’t seem to be going as far as her big role model. I’ve only been seeing her in the news lately because she did something weird again.

Snoop Dogg & Brandy
How cool. D O double G as a cousin. I would really just want to hang out with him and chat nonsense. A bit of rapping (he would, I can’t) and getting stoned while I don’t smoke.

Jonah Hill & Beanie Feldstein
You definitely know that first name, maybe not the second: she is an actress in Booksmart, a 2019 film directed by Olivia Wilde. That was a bit of her breakthrough, and she recently played Monica Lewinsky in American Crime Story. Did her big bro help her a bit with that? Jonah Hill is actually her big brother and they have a very close bond — he even has a tattoo with her name.

Phil Collins & Lily Collins
Another last name that gives it away a bit, but I didn’t know this for a long time. Lily Collins first made a name for herself as an actress when she landed the role of Snow White. And she ended up in the tabloids when she went on a date with Zac Efron (not a punishment either). A bizarrely beautiful girl, and yeah… Because of that, I didn’t immediately make the connection with her father Phil. You know, the one from Tarzan. You’ll beeeee in my heart. Yes, that one.

Jenny McCarthy & Melissa McCarthy
Two pretty household names in Hollywood and totally not strangers to each other: these two are actually cousins. In terms of looks, you don’t see that at all, but I think Jenny has more bought looks than there’s anything authentic left.

Melanie Griffith & Dakota Johnsonn
Ms. Fifty Shades of Grey was born to be an actress, I think. Because of her genes, because as an actress, I actually think she didn’t do very well in the Fifty Shades films (but the dialogues were really unbearable, right?). Her father is actor Don Johnson (you might know him from Miami Vice) and her mother is Melanie Griffith (you might know her from… Well, actually a lot). By the way, mom claims to be the ‘proudest mother in the world’ after her daughter portrayed Anastasia Steele. That’s sweet.
