Why you want to take a trip with your mother every year

You are half made of her: your own mother. Fifty percent of your genes you owe to her, whether you are happy about it or not, but that's beside the point.

Now that I have been a mother for almost a year, I know how beautiful motherhood is. All the more reason to take a trip with your own mother every year. London, Paris, Rome: choose a cool city and go. Because on such a trip, you can really talk about life. About sadness, love, emotions, and the little things.

Satisfaction with life is not something you get as a person by having money, wealth, or expensive things in your home. Fame? Not that either. You get it through experiences. That's why scientists say: spend your money on doing things instead of buying things. The fun  that you have as anticipation and the memories that an outing brings are more valuable than anything else. You have experienced something together. That is more special than a new dress or a new bag.

What makes you even happier, according to science?

  • Giving instead of receiving
  • The smell of flowers
  • Exercising (sorry)
  • Being grateful for what you have
  • Good health
  • Having real friends
  • Sleeping through for eight hours when you two babies have (for me then)

I'm going to text my mom soon. Will it still work out this year? Maybe to the coast in France or enjoying food in Italy. Or does she maybe want to go back to Spain, just like last year? I'm already looking forward to it. Don't forget to plan something too!
