The 6 major trends of this autumn

The fashion world is also affected by corona. How futile it seems to talk about clothing when the world is on fire. Sustainability has become (even) more important. Just like the emphasis on diversity. Yet the designers seemed to have a ‘fin de siècle’ feeling with their autumn collections. Grand, eclectic, bombastic, and chaotic. Clothing as comfort, as entertainment, and as a safe nest around us. These are the 6 main trends.

1. Mix
Forget about the ‘match’ in mix and match. It's all about mixing. So a pair of shorts in one print, combined with a jacket in another print. Different textures, prints, colors. Let it clash, anything goes.

2. A dress is enough
But it should start under the chin and end at the ankles at the earliest, but preferably on the floor. And if possible: form-fitting.

3. Comfort coat
Nice and puffy and fluffy, of course made of fun fur. The shoulder can be wide so that you see a décolletage, and a belt around your waist makes it just a bit more polished. You never want to take it off.

4. Biblical scene
Our hope in anxious days. From cross necklaces to monk hoods or bible prints, we see it all.

5. Thread party
All thin strands of fabric or wool dancing around your legs. A tight dress or pants underneath for the much-needed coverage, but the strands provide festivity and movement.

6. Animal love
The dog head on the T-shirt from Max Mara, the butterflies on the dress from Anna Sui, or the tiger head on the dress from Kenzo; we are happy with all of it.
