The clog is back!

Isabel Marant clogs

Thalie Studded leather clogs, €315,- Net-a-porter

About 18 years ago, I also got caught up in this trend. I was in Italy and saw clogs from Dolce & Gabbana. It seemed to me a beautiful fusion of my Dutch roots with my love for Italy. Worn twice. First, because I, just like when I was four and wore little clogs, got wounds on the bones on the inside of my foot because I kept bumping that wooden bottom of the clog against that bone. And second: because clogs are, well, not as fashionable as I had hoped.

Now Isabel Marant is trying to get us into the clog. And I must say: if anyone is capable of turning something impossible into an it-item, it’s her. For 315 euros, you can have these clogs on your feet. Whether it will give a tremendous boost to your sex life, I cautiously wonder, but they are a lot cheaper than her over-the-knee boots that I am in love with, and they do come off a lot easier. That’s true.
