Einde van een tijdperk: Keeping Up With the Kardashians is gestopt

Twenty seasons. T-W-E-N-T-Y. I just can't imagine it right now. The Kardashian family has thrown a big decision into the world this Tuesday: KUWTK is ending after 14 years of being on air non-stop.
‘It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians,’ said the – let’s be honest – most famous family on earth in a joint statement. ’After 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes, and various spin-off shows, we as a family have decided to end this very special journey. We are incredibly grateful to all of you who have watched us over the years – in the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We will forever cherish the beautiful memories and the countless people we have met along the way.‘
The show premiered in 2007 and turned the Kardashian-Jenner family into international superstars with a multimedia empire, complete with clothing lines, cosmetics companies, apps, and endless interest from the paparazzi in just about every little thing they did. I totally understand that after fourteen you think: and now that’s enough. We women are almost in our forties and have families, it’s good like this.
How many children have we seen being born? How many sister fights have we witnessed? How many squabbles over money and making time for each other or not. Realize… We have damn well seen that whole family transform! Faces were made ‘more beautiful’, butts were lifted, waists were created. We have seen Bruce Jenner transform into Caitlyn Marie Jenner. We have experienced all the scandals with all the boyfriends. We have seen tears flow. KUWTK is more than just a hysterical family show. It has grown into a monument. We were there.
I’m just curious what it looks like today in the Kardashian household. Will they raise a glass? Shed a tear? Will momager Kris Jenner have screamed about all the millions they have earned from the show? ‘Together with you, we have enjoyed following the intimate moments that the family so bravely shared by allowing us into their daily lives. While it has been an absolute privilege and we will miss them dearly, we respect the family’s decision to lead their lives without our cameras,’ said the network boss at E! Network.
Sigh. The end is in sight. The last season will air in early 2021. May I have a round of applause for the smartest business family on earth? How we have enjoyed it. Luckily, we still have the thirty-eight thousand three hundred trillionth season to look back on.
