There is a good chance that rapper Jay-Z will soon have to take a DNA test, as he is being sued by Rymir Satterthwaite, who claims to be his biological son. This is not news for Jay-Z, as this has been claimed for over ten years – the boy is now a 30-year-old man. In February, he filed this request with the Supreme Court, and it now seems that it is really going to happen: that paternity test is going to be done.

Jay-Z has always denied that he became a father to Rymir at the age of 21. Rymir's mother, Wanda, reportedly had a brief relationship with Jay-Z (then still Shawn Carter, his debut album was only released in 1996 and this took place in 1992) when she was sixteen; she was still in high school at the time. The romance was already over when Rymir was born, and Wanda put the name of her high school sweetheart on the birth certificate because she had already lost contact with Carter. That name has since been removed because he turned out not to be the biological father.

According to Rymir, he only wants recognition from Jay-Z and is not after money. Well, we do hear about these kinds of cases more often with extremely wealthy celebs, but it is striking that this case has been dragging on for so long. And honestly: I do see a resemblance between Rymir and Jay-Z, but that could also just be because you already know the possible link.

In any case, this is obviously going to have a sequel. Rymir has been trying to get that DNA test since 2010, but it seems that he is finally going to succeed now.
