I find road tripping so much more fun than flying. It’s not faster, of course, but it’s much more enjoyable and you see a lot more. So if I have more time (and I'm not going to an island...), I prefer to take the car rather than the plane. I used to do that too, although it was sometimes tough because we didn’t have air conditioning in the car. You really can’t imagine that now, and it’s probably for the best. Touring through Andalusia without air conditioning isn’t exactly my fondest childhood memory. But anyway, road tripping is still awesome. So if you also have a trip planned towards the south, there’s a good chance you’ll plan some overnight stays along the way. Unless you’re really taking turns driving, but that seems quite tough to me.
