The only dessert restaurant in the Netherlands is coming back

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the food lovers of online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat and what to cook. This time our chefs serve you: the pop-up dessert restaurant you want to go to.
A must-go for the real sweet tooth: a restaurant where you only eat desserts! At the end of July, the first dessert-only restaurant in the Netherlands opened: De Dessertclub. It was fully booked within a few hours. Therefore, De Dessertclub is now getting a sequel: Chapter Two. De Dessertclub will reopen its doors on October 1.
In New York, Berlin, and Bali, it is a proven concept: a restaurant where you can only eat desserts. It didn't exist in the Netherlands yet, but that changed with De Dessertclub. The pop-up dessert-only restaurant opened in mid-July – and since it is a pop-up, it will close again at the beginning of September. A disappointment for all dessert lovers, but they are coming back now!
Steak made of chocolate
De Dessertclub, located at the Zwitsalterrein in Apeldoorn, offers an evening-long seven-course experience by master patissier Bart de Gans. Only desserts? Yes, really! All flavors, scents, and colors come by. And sometimes you are completely misled. For example, during the first edition, they served a steak made of... chocolate as the main course! Due to the different flavors, you don't have the impression that you are only eating desserts, but it is truly a meal-replacing menu.
Tastiest bonbon
By the way, Bart is no stranger to the world of sweet delights; he won the award for the tastiest bonbon of 2012 and is a candidate and jury member at national and international competitions. Master patissier Bart: “The desserts are by no means just sweet, but also contain enough savory elements, allowing us to create a proper balance throughout the evening. We use as much as possible natural sugars and sweeteners from pure ingredients in the dishes. This prevents a sugar bomb and gives our guests a variety of desserts.”
Craving it?
Bart and Maurits van der Vooren (former sous-chef of Latour* & winner of the 20th Dutch Pastry Award) are fully engaged in developing a new dessert-only menu. A seven-course experience at De Dessertclub costs € 69.50, to be expanded with a wine or cocktail pairing.
