The question that successful people ask themselves every day

Success is a broad concept, if you ask me, something that is different for every person. When I think of success, I quickly think of work and climbing the ranks, but you can also have successes in sports, traveling, or your relationships. It just depends on what goal you set for yourself.
Regardless of what you want to be successful in, it seems we all seek the holy grail on the road to that success. Ridiculously early rising, eight hours of sleep per night, à la Bill Gates spending all your free time reading, being unreachable by phone or doing yoga. I suspect that so many different people with so many different character traits have so many different ways that work. Yet successful people seem to ask themselves the same question every day.
What is your highest priority and your most important goal today? By asking yourself this in the morning, it becomes easier to focus. With your attention on the right priority, you ultimately achieve what you want faster. Successful people seem to have the gift of focusing primarily, and perhaps only, on what is truly necessary. If you have focus, you are less easily distracted. It is especially important during your day that you do not let yourself be diverted from that goal. So let Steven from HR or Imen from Finance wait until you have completed your priority.
How do you start small by setting the right priorities? Make a priority list today for tomorrow. Since you are not yet sucked into a day, you know very clearly what you want to accomplish the next day. By the way, it also feels very tidy and like you have your shit together to have the to-do list for tomorrow ready at the end of a workday. Once you have those priorities clear, you make a plan for the next morning on how you want to allocate that time. This way, you know before you start what you are going to do. Routine works if you are aiming for success.
