The solution for when your weekend is over but your wine is not

Sometimes it happens to me that I have a little wine left at the end of my weekend. It doesn't happen to me often, I admit that right away. And then I try to hide the bottle in the door of my fridge for a little sip on Monday, and sometimes that cork just doesn't fit. First world problems for which our neighbors from the online food magazine FavorFlav have a solution.
The wine condom is not a condom that tastes like Chardonnay. It does look strikingly like the real thing: a rolled-up rubber cover – packaged in shiny, golden foil – that smoothly unrolls to prevent spills and leaks. But in this case, the covered object is an opened bottle. Handy for storing or transporting a leftover bit of wine. No more issues with leaks, or a cork that no longer fits. Because the makers promise a perfect fit and a watertight seal, thanks to the special ‘shrink-to-fit’ technology. Moreover, this condom can be used multiple times. Good luck finding that with the original.
Safe for home and on the go
A leftover bit of wine is often too good to throw away, or to simply leave behind in a restaurant. But usually, the cork has already miraculously disappeared. Or it goes back into the neck with difficulty, making it no longer fit in the fridge door. And nothing is as annoying as a bottle wobbling at a 45-degree angle in the fridge. The wine condom is ideal for such moments: it seals even better than the original cork, and the bottle doesn't get a millimeter taller. So it always fits.
Only with sparkling wine is the stopper less suitable. There's a good chance that the bubble pressure after a while will create a festive – but awkward – balloon on the bottle. And don't expect that the roll of rubber will ensure a longer shelf life for the wine. The condom does seal the bottle leak-proof, but it can't prevent that wine, under the influence of oxygen, simply doesn't last as long.

Fits in every wallet
But anyway, it's just a cute thing. And the rave reviews on Amazon (‘Best thing since sliced bread!’) promise a lot. It easily fits in any pocket or wallet, so you'll never have to be without protection when you leave home.
They are sold in packs of six or more. Stylishly held together in a nice box and individually wrapped in a shiny, resealable cover. You can buy it here.
