The TV things I'm looking forward to in 2020
The new Robinson season is over, so you have no reason to turn on that TV anymore? No way, silly. Plenty of fun to live for this year. Those Netflix addictions, YouTube formats, and vlogs are great, but for some gems of Dutch television, I really want to reach for that remote control.
Who is the Mole?
Yes: from January 11, the Mol-mania will sweep through the Netherlands again. An elimination race with famous Dutch people where so much time, budget, and love has been poured in that you can taste it from the couch. With China as the playing field, the twentieth season can only be a feast for the eyes. Don't quite get the whole WIDM hype? Then just read this.
ADHDennis
A personal favorite that I've been looking forward to for a while. Brand new on SBS, with former Expeditie Robinson presenter Dennis Weening. Mr. dives into the world of ADHD. And no, he has never been diagnosed, but is now curious if his restlessness comes from ADHD. The good part? Starting tomorrow on SBS6.
Floortje Back to the End of the World
YES. YES. YES: your favorite travel journalist girl has a new season lined up. In the latest episodes of FTNHEVDW (is it still an abbreviation if it's such a long word?!) the presenter visits people she has met over the years. Do they still live at the end of the world? And how are they doing? We still have to wait a bit, because we can start in the spring.
Five Days Inside
One of the few Dutch programs that really gave me a lump in my throat. The only downside is that man-of-the-first-hour Beau is no longer part of it (I think he just couldn't handle it anymore, so intense every time and I understand that), but luckily there were three willing presenters who wanted to take on this task. Angela Groothuizen, Caroline Tensen, and Natasja Froger will present Five Days Inside. Starting January 14, weekly at 9:30 PM on RTL 4.
Chateau Meiland
Yes, yes, of course Martien is not disappearing from the screen yet. The flamboyant castle owner had good news in December for all fans of the antics in Chateau Meiland; there will be a new season and in this one, the family will focus on a new project. There is another house on the Meiland estate. In the new season, the family will renovate this building. ‘There is already a new roof on it, but the entire interior, all the walls are gone, so we have to renovate that whole house,’ says Martien. The family still needs to recover from the New Year's gesture, but trust me: those recordings will be scheduled soon. How goooooooood!
Temptation Island
True: there has been a lot of fuss about reality shows in the past few months. The Villa was straight up taken off the air, but it always seemed likely that Temptation Island still had a future – as long as the recordings take place safely, without pressure from production or anyone else. ‘You don't throw away a successful program like Temptation Island if it's not necessary,’ says Peter van de Vorst. In fact, it turns out that the entire season has already been filmed. Luckily. There still needs to be a little offie offie green light given, but trust me: Tempah fans can sleep easy: that new season is loading...
