The when-I-get-out-of-quarantine checklist

It feels a bit like I have house arrest from Rutte, which is of course for everyone's best interest. Although I had to swallow hard when it became April 28. Just an hour before, I was wisely telling my mother that we probably had another month to go, but it feels different when the prime minister says it is so. My list of what-to-do-when-it's-allowed is steadily filling itself. With essentials like seeing my family, but also with trivialities that you can long for a bit.
1. Having breakfast outside. Drinking coffee outside. Brunching outside. Lunching outside. Having drinks outside. Dining outside. Going out outside. And all of that on day one.
2. Hugging. I'm going to give everyone big fat smacks on the cheeks like an old aunt who catches her nephew with chubby cheeks. Gradually of course, but when it's allowed by Rutte, you have been warned. And that while I'm not really that cuddly at all.
3. Letting someone dance in my aura at the pub, while I'm sober enough to find it annoying. I'm already looking forward to it.
4. Grappling with two people at the supermarket's freezer section, without having to awkwardly maneuver around each other at one and a half meters distance.
5. I'm going straight to my mother, to my father, to my new nephew, brothers and sister, to my grandparents, to my in-laws, to my friends, to ev-e-ry-one I love and I'm going to sit on their lap.
6. Sneezing in public. It seems wonderful that no one looks around in a panic, but just wishes you good health.
7. Going to the hairdresser, my god, I think I will already be lying on the doorstep of Rob Peetoom the night before. With a hat on, because hell no, I don't want anyone to see my hair then. I'm that one person who actually should have gone a month ago, but was just postponing it. Then you know roughly how I look right now.
8. I'm going to grab a movie at the cinema. I'm going to get my nails done. Taking a candy from the communal candy jar at the editorial office. I'm going to my favorite gym to work off all those quarantine kilos.
9. Those Amayzers of mine, I miss you.
10. And once I've done all that, I'm going to board a plane to Greece with my boyfriend, where I'm going to spend a long weekend in my favorite hotel and indulge in grilled eggplants, pasticcio, and those tomatoes that only taste so delicious there. .
But until then, I stay inside. For you, for all the grandpas and grandmas, for the people who work with heart and soul in healthcare. Hoping that we can go outside together again soon. You too?
