Things you should not care about in the office

In addition to the fun things about working in a corporate environment, such as having many (young) colleagues around you, outings, drinks, and bonuses, you will surely encounter some less pleasant situations. You have to be indifferent to these things when working in a corporate environment.
Gossip about who is doing what with whom
Have you ever found yourself (unjustly) in the gossip mill because you were talking a bit too long with an (attractive) colleague? A corporate work environment can sometimes feel like a kindergarten. Someone sees something noteworthy, spreads the word, and before you know it, the whole department thinks you are having an affair with the colleague in question. People always need to have something ‘interesting’ to tell someone else. Besides their own successes, supposed affairs are the way to put themselves in the spotlight.
The opinion of others
Did you oversleep and not have time to iron your business outfit? When you walk into the office, it seems like everyone can see that you are in the wrinkles . You can already hear them thinking: what are you doing here if you can't even show up properly for work? Ask yourself if your colleagues really think that way about you. People are mostly busy with their own lives and have their hands full with that. You are not the center of the universe, maybe in your own life, but not in that of your colleagues.
Cocky behavior
It's great that your colleague explicitly mentions in a meeting how easily he is exceeding his targets for this week. While you have had three lovely free evenings, he may have worked late into the night. Moreover, those who shout the loudest are often the most insecure. It's okay if you don't always have a comeback ready after a jab. Just because that colleague gets a promotion before you doesn't mean you are doing your job any worse. Don't compare yourself too much with (the success of) others, because you can only do your best.
Living to work
Are you someone who often works overtime to meet all deadlines? Often you feel pressure from others to complete your goals on time. Because if you haven't sent your report by 6 PM, then... Then what exactly? It seems like it's a matter of life and death that you meet your deadline. But does anyone really die if you submit the report the next day at 9 AM? Setting deadlines helps combat procrastination and loafing. Just keep in mind that a deadline shouldn't break you. You live for yourself and not for others (and their deadlines).
Working overtime because everyone else does
Do you get strange looks when you pack your things and leave at 5:30 PM? In a corporate environment where working overtime is the norm, leaving on time can sometimes feel taboo. If you have your affairs in order on time, then there is no reason to stay longer. Try to organize your workday so that you can finish your tasks on time. End your workday with a plan for the next day. This way, you start fresh for a new workday.
